Spanish Mortgages are offered on the valuation of the individual property as assessed by the bank. It is possible to borrow up to 80% of the value although 70% is more common. It is important to note that generally the property will be valued as per the sales price but there are instances where the valuation will come in greater and in rare cases, it could be slightly lower. Undiscovered Spain recommend using an independent mortgage broker, based in Spain, whose main activity is arranging finance for non residents buying or re-mortgaging in Spain.
